Half-round gutters offer the following features and advantages:

• Aesthetic appeal. Half-round gutters create a curved and softer look. As described above, it can be used to balance angular building aesthetics. If your home style calls for an authentic and traditional look, choose this style.
• Easy to clean. If you clean your own gutters, you’ll appreciate the easier-to-clean half-round gutter troughs. Its rounded profile helps facilitate the flow of water within, resulting in less standing water and fewer pieces of debris left inside.
• More installation options. Half-round gutters are built from multiple sections or extruded for seamless lengths — the same methods used for building K-style gutters. Additionally, you can take the more traditional route and have your half-round gutters built from cast metals — a method that’s unique to this style.

Factors to Consider Before Choosing Half-Round Gutters

There are certain factors that you need to weigh before making your choice.

• Not all gutter contractors offer them. Half-round gutters are not installed the same way as K-style gutters, which is why some gutter contractors only offer K-style gutters. Ask a prospective gutter company for references where they have actually installed half-round gutters.
• They need to be larger than K-style gutters. K-style gutters have inherently higher capacities, which means half-round gutters with the same or similar capacity will have bigger gutter troughs. The increase in material may drive the cost a bit upwards.
