No Roof Left Behind: Our Way of Giving Back to the Community

Those of us from New Jersey have a strong sense of community. We value fellowship and willingly help out those in need. It goes without saying that we don’t stand idly by when someone in our neighborhood needs assistance. That’s why we are extremely proud to be part of No Roof Left Behind, a nationwide program that gives communities an opportunity to organize and help a local family.

It works like this: community members nominate someone (maybe someone they know or even themselves) to get a free roof. They send in basic information about the home and nominee as well as a photo of the current roof. Once the nominations have been reviewed, community members will be asked to vote for the finalist they think deserves the new roof the most.

We at Up and Above Contractors were chosen to sponsor the program in New Jersey in 2014. You have no idea how excited we were when we heard about it! We have to say, we’ve served countless customers in our 21 years repairing and replacing roofing in Hopatcong NJ, but nothing compares to the feeling of helping someone get back on their feet.

Last year, the community chose Blaise Kubik, described by friends and neighbors as “everyone’s favorite uncle,” to receive a free roof replacement from us. Mr. Kubik has served the country well as a Vietnam War veteran, a retired police officer, and a retired National Guard tank commander. He’s the type to help someone else even when he’s on a tight budget himself. It sure felt nice giving back to someone so selfless and kind.
